7th grade ELA, along with all of New Berlin Jr High, expects the students to possess the 6 traits of Character Counts. They must be...
Trustworthy, Respectful, Responsible, Fair, Caring, and a good Citizen.
Each month is dedicated to a specific trait. Students that show these traits are award weekly and a student of the month is voted on by their peers and staff monthly.
Classroom Expectations-
1. Students will arrive to class on time and prepared with all required materials (planner, pencil, ELA notebook, folder, independent reading book, highlighter, headphones.) Not adhering will result in a tardy.
2. Students need to be in seat and working on bell ringer when the bell rings to begin class.
3. Water bottles are the only food/drink allowed in the classroom.
4. Cellphones are to be kept in the pocket chart at all times.
5. Students will use the assigned Chromebook, signing in with their school provided email, at all times.
6. When students are absent, it is their responsibility to collect makeup work upon return. It must be completed in the required time frame (one day per day absent).
7. To leave the classroom, students will be expected to fill out their planner as a pass. Not having a planner to leave the room will result in a tardy for being unprepared.
8. Students will complete homework in the required time frame. Failure to complete work will result in a homework detention to be served in Lunch Detention. The late assignment will be turned in the following day.
Consequence Procedures-
1. Verbal Warning
2. Written Warning (2 written warnings in one day or 5 in one week will result in a referral)
